My name is Chris. Welcome to Cafe’ 119.
There’s not much I like more than getting together with a friend at a cafe’ or coffee shop just to talk about important topics and questions that have to do with life, culture, family, and what God’s Word has to say about those things. I have had the privilege to serve in Christian ministry contexts where I get to have these types of important conversations on a regular basis. As I do God has provided me with opportunities to find truth in His Word, to learn from well-equipped spiritual leaders, to have access to some great resources, and in some cases to be equipped to teach others.
Cafe’ 119 is a web page I set up just to be able to share thoughts and resources with anybody who could find encouragement or clarity from them. Like the writer of Psalm 119, I find myself completely dependent upon God for understanding. I think we are all dependent in that way. As God provides opportunities for all of to have greater understanding of His truth as it applies to life, culture, and family I want to then be able to share those things with others.
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.
106 I have sworn an oath and confirmed it,
to keep your righteous rules.
107 I am severely afflicted;
give me life, O Lord, according to your word!
108 Accept my freewill offerings of praise, O Lord,
and teach me your rules.
109 I hold my life in my hand continually,
but I do not forget your law.
110 The wicked have laid a snare for me,
but I do not stray from your precepts.
111 Your testimonies are my heritage forever,
for they are the joy of my heart.
112 I incline my heart to perform your statutes
forever, to the end.[i]
